THE SUN IS MADE OF GAS, it is soft, it is like a big hot jelly. The middle of the sun is like a bomb, it is always blowing up and this makes waves go out, they make the edges vibrate in and out every few minutes so its almost like the sun is breatheing.
Scientists looked at it a lot, they had to use special telescopes because it is so bright, you must never look at it just with your eyes or they will get burnt out, you will go blind. Scientists noticed the sun is always changing, sometimes its just normal, it is quiet, but then slowly it gets busier, its like it gets angry, it takes years and years. First it gets sun spots, they are colder than the rest but they are still really hot of course, they are boilling, and they are really huge, they are as big as a planet. Then when the sun gets really angry it spits out flares, they are made of electric gas which is called plasma, and they shoot out like huge arms, they explode like bombs.
One day the Sientists looked up and saw that a flare was coming right at earth, and though we are millions of miles away, it was coming really fast, they thought “uhoh its going to hit us” but it was all right, everybody was safe because it was stopped by something called the magnetic field, so it didn’t blow us up after all, actually nobody even notised. But then scientists thought “those flares could be really dangerous.” Because they might hit satelites that are up in space, because they are not protected by the magnetic field at all, they will get broken, and then suddenly peoples sellphones and televisions won’t work any more, it will be a disaster. Scientists got so worried that one day they built a special satellite, it is called soho and it is far away in space, it watches the sun all the time really carefully and says if its making a terrible flair that will come right for earth. Then the scientists will say “switch off all the satelites right now.” But I think they must be really quick or it will be too late, the satelites will get broken after all. Then nobodies television will work so they will miss their favorite programs, and their sell phones won’t work either, which will be really bad, because they won’t get any warnings.
The next morning I thought “I don’t want to meet any of those animals, Freddy chrismas bear or Gus dog or Marther, I just don’t.” Mum said “up you get you two, your going to the vanhootins, I’ve got to get to work” but when we went out of our room I notised all their doors were closed so I thought “oh thank goodness they’re still sleeping.” I said “lets be really quiet Jemima, its a new game.”
Mum took us to the Vanhootins on a bus, and it
